Peter Capaldi leaving ‘Doctor Who’ after season 10, 2017 Christmas Special

Doctor who -

We’ve got some breaking news from the “Doctor Who” world for you today, but unfortunately, it’s not of the sort that you ever want to report.

In a statement posted on the show’s official Twitter account, star Peter Capaldi confirmed that the tenth season will be last full one on the show. His departure / the Doctor’s regeneration will likely come via the 2017 Christmas Special, which fittingly also happens to be the last episode for Steven Moffat as executive producer. The two parties are moving forward, which means potentially that new Companion Pearl Mackie could be the one person who transfer to season 11 after spending some time with Capaldi’s Twelve this year. (Unfortunately, there’s still no confirmation on even that just yet.)

In the statement, Capaldi merely said that he felt it was “time to move on” after being with the show since the eighth season, which may be true given that this is around the length of several other Doctors’ run as the character. Also, you must remember that this is an incredibly exhausting gig, given that you film the episodes plus also do promotional gigs all over the world. Peter also has been nursing a knee problem, one that is caused in part by all of the quick movements that come with playing the problem. (Past Doctors are also familiar with the ailment.)

We’ll remember Capaldi as one of the best Doctors on the show, but even more than that, one of the loveliest people to ever step into the part. He always treated fans of the series with grace, and you could tell that he loved the part — after he, he was a fan of the series from his childhood, and being the star of the show was a bit of dream fulfillment.

We’re going to have plenty of opportunities to discuss the future of the series soon, so stay tuned! Specifically, we advice you to head over here to read some further news, especially since we’ll have up there later today our preliminary list of people we’d like to see in the part moving forward.
