‘Let It Shine’ continues falling versus ‘The Voice UK’; will there be a change in the trend soon?
We started it recently that “Let It Shine” is the far superior show at the moment to “The Voice UK,” and this is an opinion that we’re not backing down from. While the latter show may have a moderately entertaining start in the Blind Auditions, it is once that is over that we start to see the entertainment value fall off a cliff. The series is based mostly on a gimmick, and once that gimmick is gone, it doesn’t have either the history or the credibility to back anything else up.
Suffice it to say, some of the recent numbers when it comes to these shows are a little bit disappointing, given that we’d love to see some more parity across the board than what we’re getting at present. Unfortunately, at the moment there is a divide, and it is not altogether clear if there is a divide that we’re going to see close up by the ends of the seasons.
The most-recent episode of “Let It Shine” on Saturday drew 4.6 million viewers; meanwhile, “The Voice UK” over on ITV pulled in 5.6 million. This marks the biggest margin of victory in the history of the show, and given that “Let It Shine” is still reasonably unknown in terms of format, it’s hard to know precisely how they plan on getting some more viewers to check the show out moving forward.
At present, the biggest thing that we hope for is strictly great entertainment. Nothing helps to get the word out about a show quite like simply hearing that it is something thoroughly entertaining to watch. The idea for future episodes of “Let It Shine” featuring group performances is promising, given that this is a part of the ultimate prize of the show and it helps it to stand out even further from other singing shows in the field.
