Cable Ratings: ‘Suits’ season 6, ‘Nashville’ season 5, and ‘Teen Wolf’ season 6
Given that we haven’t had much of a chance to touch on some of the cable ratings for some of our most-covered shows over the past several days, we thought it best to touch on a little of it in an article today. Sure, one of these shows in “Suits” is already coming back for another season, and another in “Teen Wolf” is ending — even still, if you’re a numbers geek like this there is value in tracking how some of these shows are faring in the live+same day numbers.
“Suits” – Given that the USA drama just aired its winter premiere, it only seems appropriate to start with it. We just wish that there was better news, given “She’s Gone” generated just a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic — the lowest-rated episode in the show’s history. The show’s slowly lost viewers in the live ratings over the years, and that bums us out given that it may be a top 5 show for us in terms of pure enjoyment. The thing about it is that it’s incredibly time-shifted, meaning that more and more people are likely watching it via DVRs or other means. That’s what makes live numbers deceptive sometimes.
“Teen Wolf” – The great news is that it’s not going down as we get to the end of the first part of the season. The bad news, however, is that it’s not exactly going up, either. The latest episode of the show ended up generating a 0.2 rating in the demo, even with the week before.
“Nashville” – Of the three, this is the one that needs the ratings the most given that its future is not set in stone. The latest episode drew a 0.2 rating, which is right about even to what the show drew the week before. While you could argue that this looks bad on paper, this show is extremely hard to gauge now because of the new agreement with Hulu as its streaming home. They don’t release their numbers, and it is through that we might see the Connie Britton series maintain a level of safety.
