Ratings: ‘Shark Tank’ tops ‘Last Man Standing’ as ‘Emerald City’ falls some more
Given that CBS didn’t have its Friday crime lineup of “MacGyver,” “Hawaii Five-0,” and “Blue Bloods” on the air Friday night, we wondered whether or not fans of these shows would choose to migrate over to something else … or simply choose to chill at home with repeats or use this as their chance to go out.
As it turns out, the ratings for Friday seem to indicate that for these viewers, it’s new episodes on CBS or bust. They were not altogether keen on heading over to other shows.
ABC – “Last Man Standing” has ruled the Friday roost at ABC for a rather long time now, but on this occasion drawing a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic was only enough for second place on the night. We actually saw “Shark Tank” surge forward and win the whole night with a 1.3 — this was probably the one show that did benefit the most heavily from some of the others going off the air over at CBS.
In between these two shows, we should also reference that “Dr. Ken” was fairly steady at around a 1.0 rating.
Fox – The network saw “Rosewood” hold pretty firm at around a 0.6, while “Sleepy Hollow” after it rose back to a 0.6 after sinking further into the abyss last time. We keep saying that these ratings are bad for Fox, but is there a shifting paradigm? Remember for a minute here that it’s not like any Friday shows have performed that much better than this for the network, other than maybe “Hell’s Kitchen.” For the record, Gordon Ramsay is more immortal than anyone Ichabod Crane has faced over the years.
NBC – “Grimm” (0.8) was reasonably close when it comes to performance to what it had for the episode that aired last week. Meanwhile, “Emerald City” (0.6) continues to drop. It’ll likely get the chance to air out the remainder of the season, but we’re not getting the sense right now that this is a wizard that NBC is going to want to see again after this season wraps.
The CW – “The Vampire Diaries” (0.3) and the penultimate episode of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” this season (0.2) are hovering around most of their recent numbers, but who should be shocked by this? Probably no one, and it doesn’t matter since the former is ending and the second has already been renewed for a second season.
