‘Switched at Birth’ season 5: Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, cast thank fans in new videos

Switched at Birth -

The fifth and final season of “Switched at Birth” is coming onto Freeform on Tuesday night, and in preparation of that the cast seems to have one simple message to pass along: Thank you.

In the videos below, you can see Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Marlee Matlin, and more thank fans for allowing this show to remain on the air for the past five years, and for allowing them to continue to tell such big, important stories featuring all of their characters. This is a show that has shined a positive light on the deaf community, given them strength, and also taken strength from them. It’s funny at times, and also heartwarming at others.

The challenge now is coming up with the right way for the show to end.

What we can tell you is that in the opening minutes of Tuesday’s premiere, you will have a chance to see what life was like for Bay (Marano) and Daphne (Leclerc) while overseas in China, and with that, also what was it that caused them to come back home. Obviously, they weren’t going to be staying somewhere far from the rest of the cast forever. What they’re going to realize is just how much things have changed since they departed, and the relationships that they knew may be in entirely different places.

Everyone will likely have different desires and expectations in terms of what they want to see at the end of the series. For many, we imagine that this will be geared mostly towards who they end up with; for us, it’s more about what they learned from the past five seasons, and what they will take away from that as they start to look towards the future. It’s not as though the series finale ends, and these characters cease to have stories — the idea is that they continue for some time and you wonder precisely what is to happen with them.
