‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 11 preview: Will Cabe make Damon kill Caroline?

TVD -Tonight on “The Vampire Diaries,” brace yourself for a chance to see how Damon acts now that he is fully aware of his history with Elena once more. Maybe he tries to be inspired more by her memory, but the flip side of that is that it potentially causes him to spiral, and he wrestles with the guilt of everything that he has done.

One way or another, we consider both of these scenarios to be possible as we move forward beyond it into the next episode, which carries with it the title of “You Made a Choice to Be Good.” Upon first looking at that, we admittedly struggle with knowing whether or not this is meant to be a good thing, or something that serves as a little more of a cause for concern.

Synopsis – “Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) returns to Mystic Falls and presents Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) with additional assignments, each with unthinkable consequences. Even with tension growing in their friendship, Caroline (Candice King) and Matt (Zach Roerig) do their best to protect the town’s residents from Cade’s appetite for their souls. Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) hit the road on a romantic trip, taking the bell with them in hopes to keep it safe.”

Here are some of our quick reactions to reading that:

1. Obviously, this whole trip for Bonnie and Enzo isn’t going to work, right? When was the last time that something like this ever went according to plan?

2. Cade’s probably going to give zero bleeps about whether or not Damon has Elena in his head. It doesn’t change the fact that the two have a deal for him to continue being nefarious and fulfilling all of his evil duties.

3. It’s nice to see Caroline and Matt working together. If nothing else, it’s a nice callback to the early days of the show when the relationship between the two of them was a big part of the story.

Warning: Spoilers from tonight’s episode ahead!

We now know that Damon is back with his humanity, and that’s great. However, the bad news is that with Seline and Sybil both gone, he is the man running the show. That means manipulating Damon into making a choice: Kill Caroline, or kill a hundred innocent people. What will he do? Basically, he’s making all of that guilt rise to the top like cream.
