Was ‘Poldark’ snubbed at the NTAs? Why you should still be thrilled for season 3

Poldark -

If you’re an avid fan of “Poldark,” we understand feeling a tad down in the dumps. You voted hard today, but unfortunately the beloved series starring Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson did not come out of the National TV Awards a winner. (Another worthy series in “Call the Midwife” took home the Period Drama prize this time.)

Do we think that the show is going to be there again? Absolutely, and that is one of many things that you should be excited about as you look towards the next ceremony. This is a show producing fantastic television, sweeping vistas, and incredible performances through and through. There’s also certainly enough quality source material to make several more great seasons over the next few years. Consider this setback a mere chance to motivate the base further for the next go-around!

In the end, awards are nice when it comes to validation — they are a showcase of the resonance that a particular series has on a group of people. Sometimes, it’s a small group of critics; other times, it is people within the industry. At other points, it is the public. In the end, sometimes the journey is akin to the prize. Would it have been nice to see “Poldark” win? Absolutely, given that we cover the series even more actively than the other nominees. Yet, we think all of the tweeting and promoting the nomination did nothing other than help the show. It received the validation that it deserved due to all of the love that it received on social media and the internet in general.

Now, if only we could find a way to see the show get a little more love in this capacity here in America…

There is no formal premiere date yet for “Poldark” season 3, but as soon as we have one, rest assured that we will pass it along here. You can certainly expect the stories left over from season 2 to accelerate, and for some new ones to pop up as well.

For now, let us know how hard you fought for the show to win the prize in the comments! You can also head over here to gather up some further news right now when it comes to “Poldark.” (Photo: BBC.)
