‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Martian Chronicles’ could be a threat to everyone

Manhunter -

The journey for J’onn J’onzz and M’gann on “Supergirl” season 2 so far is one of the series’ finest creations. The writers have come up with a way in which to evolve these characters that feels natural, rather than just going in the direction of “these two characters are the only Martians we have, so let’s just pair them together as quickly as possible.”

As a matter of fact, to date much of what they’ve faced are hurdles to having a working friendly relationship, let alone a romantic one. She was incredibly distant at first regarding who she was, and when J’onn eventually found out the truth about her, he refused to accept her as anything more than the enemy. Then, there was the time when she had to keep him alive using her blood, and he almost ended up transforming into a White Martian himself.

You would think that these two would have a break now in order to start to work on their friendship to a certain degree, but this is not a show where those sort of things are possible. Instead, we’ve got an upcoming episode entitled “The Martian Chronicles” (airing on Monday, February 6) where at the center of the story will be a White Martian named Armek, who is intent on finding M’gann and bringing her back home in order to properly punish her for her betrayal. After all, she was one of the few compassionate White Martians out there during the mass genocide.

We’ve already seen M’gann do what she can to help J’onn in a life-threatening situation; this episode could provide himself an opportunity to be there for her, and ensure that in one way or another, she can be safe. The biggest challenge that J’onn, Supergirl, and everyone else could face is that Armek, like M’gann and J’onn, is a maters of disguise. Therefore, he could disguise himself as any other member of the team and cause chaos from within. We know that Supergirl is a woman of many powers, but she cannot necessarily differentiate between a person and a person in disguise without hearing them speak first.

All in all, this episode should prove interesting! If you are fan of David Harewood and Sharon Leal, this will be an episode well worth watching live.
