Miguel Ferrer of ‘NCIS: Los Angeles,’ ‘Crossing Jordan’ dead at 61
Extremely sad news to report today.
Miguel Ferrer, a veteran actor best known for his work as Owen Granger on “NCIS: Los Angeles” and also “Crossing Jordan,” has passed away after a hard battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Deadline confirmed the news today, and our thoughts and condolences are going out to everyone within his family, to all of his friends, everyone who worked with him and his fans who will also miss him dearly.
When you look at some of Ferrer’s resume over the course of the past several decades, you come away from it completely in awe of everything that he’s done. In addition to the shows we’ve already mentioned, Ferrer was a part of the “Bionic Woman” revival, “Twin Peaks,” “Magnum P.I.,” and many other shows. His resume is incredible, and more than that he had a tremendous impact on everyone around him.
Ferrer was still working on “NCIS: Los Angeles” over the past several months; he was even featured on this past episode “Hot Water,” where we saw his character attacked as a part of a massive conspiracy conducted against the team. In a statement, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill had the following to say:
“Today, NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member … Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart. Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons [Lukas and Rafi], and his entire family. He will be greatly missed.”
There will be a time to talk about things in the context of the show, but this is not it. For now, let’s remember a man who contributed a lot to his performances; we know that there are many other great performances from him out there (especially for “Star Trek” fans) that we have not mentioned in the article, and everyone will have their favorite memory of him.
Once again, our thoughts and well-wishes are with his entire family and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time. (Photo: CBS.)
