‘Sneaky Pete’ renewed by Amazon for season 2
For everyone out there with a quick love of Amazon’s “Sneaky Pete” series, we come bearing great news: You are officially getting a second season! It didn’t take a lot of time for Amazon to make this decision, and that may be a good thing just on the basis of how long they forced everyone to wait in order to make it to this point. Just stop and think about that for a minute or two. This is a show that first was set to be a pilot over at CBS, but when it didn’t make it over there, it then was retooled for Amazon and went through its lengthy pilot season before being eventually ordered to series.
Now, it can celebrate a little bit of security with another batch of episodes. Given the creative talent here, in particular executive producers Graham Yost (“Justified”) and Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”), there is a lot more to look forward to.
In a statement confirming this news, Amazon Studios head of comedy and drama Joe Lewis said the following:
“Bryan Cranston and Graham Yost have done a masterful job of steering the cast to fantastic performances … Both the critical response and our customers’ engagement with the series are key factors in our enthusiasm to bring our audience a second season of Sneaky Pete.”
Given when the first season premiered, it’s fair to assume that season 2 will launch at some point early in 2018. While it’s hard to gauge specific ratings with a service like Amazon (who doesn’t choose to release them and really has no obligation to do so), it’s fair to imagine that the numbers were great here given the sole fact that it was renewed so early. Otherwise, we have a feeling that they may have waited for another week or two’s worth of numbers.
