Ratings: ‘Blindspot’ falls while ‘Speechless’ wins night; ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ ‘Chicago PD’ steady
The ratings have officially come in for Wednesday night’s TV lineup, and unfortunately, this is one of those situations where there is good news for every show out there — especially “Blindspot.”
While this show delivered a very good episode on Wednesday night that delivered a lot in terms of Roman backstory, at the same exact time it failed to deliver more than a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is the sort of rating that could keep there from being a season 3, so over the course of the upcoming hiatus, now may be the time to start to rally up the fans and get everyone on the same page as we move forward towards the end of the season.
As for everything else on the schedule…
NBC – In following up “Blindspot,” the latest episodes of “Law & Order: SVU” (1.4) and “Chicago PD” (1.5) both held firm to some of their recent numbers. These are both extremely solid totals that suggest good things for their future.
CBS – A new episode of “Undercover Boss” (1.1) almost did as well as the People’s Choice Awards (1.2) this year. It’s funny that with all of the promotion that shows like this and the Teen Choice Awards tend to get, there actually aren’t that many people watching year in and year out.
Fox – “Star” continues to descend, this time scoring just a 1.2 rating for its latest new episode. “Lethal Weapon” (1.4) is actually the #1 show on the night for Fox now, which certainly was not something that we could say back when “Empire” was on the air in the fall.
The CW – “Frequency” held firm to the 0.2 rating it got last week, but that’s not going to be enough to save this show from a most-depressing fate at the end of the spring.
ABC – “Speechless” actually won the night with a 1.6, beating “Fresh Off the Boat” (1.5) and “black-ish” (1.5). “Modern Family” was in repeats for the week.

Next week, “Arrow” is going to return to The CW, so we’ll see what its presence does to impact the 8:00 p.m. hour in the coming weeks.
