‘Gotham’ season 3 will introduce potential Harley Quinn by season’s end

Are “Gotham” fans finally getting closer to getting the Harley Quinn that they want? It certainly does seem that way, but there isn’t really much of an indication yet if we’re going to be seeing the real version of Harley, or one that is just a stand-in for the time being similar to Jerome.

What we do know is that according to TV Guide, the proto-Harley is someone that you’re going to be meeting by the end of the season, and they could turn into a launching point for everything that the show does in the early going for a potential fourth season. The show has not officially been renewed just yet by Fox, but that is something that we presume to be likely when you look at where the ratings are right now, especially in relation to some other shows on Fox. Plus, you can market the heck out of a Harley story these days for ratings. Just think of all the money “Suicide Squad” made even without it getting incredible reviews.

Whoever gets to play this early version of her, we do hope that it’s someone who does manage to really give her a good bit of her trademark crazy, but not too much given that her backstory dictates that she had to hold it together for a lengthy period of time as Dr. Harleen Quinzel before undergoing her transformation. We’re okay with getting the real Harley here as opposed to Jerome as a pseudo-Joker, if for no other reason than that in the comics, you don’t actually know Joker’s origin story. Harley’s is spelled out for you as clear as day.

One other thing that will be fun is getting to see whatever potential relationship is there between this Harley and Barbara Kean, given that there have certainly been times when Barbara has received comparisons in one way or another to the character. We do think that she’s far more calculated than Harley, who tends to be far more impulsive; yet, we do understand where all this comes from.
