‘NCIS: New Orleans’ season 3, episode 11 review: Agent Pride hatches genius plan to stop cartel frontman
The fans of “NCIS: New Orleans” were shocked last episode when a witness under federal protection was gunned down after helping try to put cartel boss, Javier Garcia, behind bars. Even more upsetting was the woman who was killed was a personal friend of Special Agent Dwayne Pride and he promised her safety. On Tuesday night the team came together, unofficially, to help take down the woman’s killer and find justice.
Perhaps justice is a bit of a stretch describing Javier Garcia’s future involvement. Looking to make the man pay, it appears that the plan hatched by Agent Pride will make him choose a side. He either needs to be part of the cartel or turn on them to save his own backside. Agent Pride recognizes that Garcia will do anything to save himself and what he currently needs is money.
Telling the team that they aren’t required to help, Agent Pride is mighty surprised that everyone steps up to be part of the plan. Frankly, it’s devious but it does appear to appeal to the greedy side of Garcia. Knowing that Javier needs to send 20 million to his boss, he needs to multiply his 2 million in the back ten fold. Heading to the track, he finds a way to actually bet to win.
The problem with cheating is sometimes there is someone who can cheat better than yourself. The team’s Investigative Computer Specialist, Patton Plane, knows firsthand how to cheat at gambling and he’s leading the way to infusing the FBI with 2 million dollars. Changing the outcome of the race, the digitally savvy man is able to lead Garcia to the wrong bet and ruin the chances of a big payout.
Since the cartel isn’t going to be getting the 20 million dollars as expected, that leaves Javier Garcia little choice but to work with the FBI to get protection. Revealing names and details about corrupt individuals, the killer is able to get a taste of freedom for details, but it won’t be living the life. Garcia will always be looking over his shoulder and someday the cartel might get him.
The final scenes of the show are really when the actions of the cartel seem to make the greatest impact. Names and details are shared with the FBI, but the cartel isn’t finished yet. Someone found out about the deal of a lifetime for Javier and decided to cut it short. After giving up the information he was killed in a car bomb incident.
Viewers of “NCIS: New Orleans” are left wondering who killed Garcia and what might happen next. The cartel obviously hasn’t left New Orleans and it appears to have a strong hold on the community still. This edge of your seat thriller has fans wondering who might be working on the other side and why.
On a more personal note, FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio has decided to call New Orleans home. Along with the chance to live in the city, she has a job too. She has become part of the NCIS team and will be working side-by-side with the other agents during the weeks ahead.
We felt that this week the action was exciting and the focus was intense. Once again “NCIS: New Orleans” gave fans a reason to tune in! Episode grade: A-
