Ratings: ‘The Bachelor’ sets season high; ‘Timeless’ hits series low; ‘Gotham’ season 3 rises

Nick -The numbers for Monday night are in, and once again “The Bachelor” figured out a way to reign supreme. As a matter of fact, the show drew some of its highest numbers of the entire season.

Monday night’s installment drew in total a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is by far its strongest performance. The so far is down slightly from its average from Ben Higgins’ season overall, but the silver lining here is that the average rating so far is stronger than the average rating through the first three episodes last year. Consider that a good start!

It’s too bad that these ratings didn’t quite carry over to “Big Fan.” The new celebrity series brought in a 1.0 and a 0.7 rating, which shows further that ABC is still struggling to figure out ways to use the lead-in. Perhaps they gave up on the aftershow concept a little too early? We’re starting to think that way.

As for some other shows on the night…

NBC – Good news for fans of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” given that the show drew a 1.2 rating, up slightly versus the prior week. Unfortunately, “Timeless” returned to just a 0.9, which does make you wonder whether or not the show is going to be back for another go.

CBS – “Scorpion” returned steady with a 1.2 rating; meanwhile, “Kevin Can Wait” (1.7), “Man with a Plan” (1.5), “2 Broke Girls” (1.5), and “The Odd Couple” (1.1) all improved from their previous outings. Other than “The Odd Couple,” you have to think that CBS is feeling pretty happy when it comes to how their comedies are faring at the moment.

Fox – “Gotham” improved to a 1.2 for its winter premiere, while “Lucifer” (1.1) stayed steady versus its fall finale. These two shows may be somewhat on the bubble, but we’re optimistic about their future.

Overall, a pretty great week when it comes to the ratings, no? It certainly helps when you think about the lack of sports competition elsewhere. That has hurt the ratings pretty terribly over the past several weeks.
