Ratings: How ‘This Is Us,’ ‘The Wall,’ and ‘Bones’ season 12 fared on complicated night
The numbers are officially in now for Tuesday night’s TV lineup, and they are rather complicated, to say the least. The Presidential Address took up a good majority of the 9:00 p.m. hour, and because of some changes that were made to accommodate Obama’s speech, the ratings picture is not altogether clear when it comes to some shows.
Take, for example, “This Is Us.” While the 10:00 p.m. ratings suggest that the show dipped slightly to a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, NBC notes that when you factor in the initial airing at 9:00 and the repeat at ten for the West Coast, the show has a series-high 3.0. How well the show would’ve done under normal circumstances is probably somewhere in between, so we’ll see what happens when the show comes back next week at a normal time.
Meanwhile, “Bones” is listed right now with a 1.0, but it could be subjected to more adjustments than usual when the final ratings come out.
As for elsewhere on the night…
ABC – “The Middle” and “American Housewife” were fairly steady with a 1.7 and 1.5 on the night compared to where the two of them were previously. Meanwhile, the winter premiere of “Agents of SHIELD” had a marginal increase in finishing with a 1.0.
NBC – “The Wall” posted a 1.7 with its latest episode, down just a tick from where it was the week before.
Fox – “New Girl” (1.1) and “The Mick” (1.1) both had a similar performance on the night prior to the start of the Address. We expect both to be around for another season, given that for Fox (at this particular point in time), this is considered to be a fairly reasonable performance.
CBS – It was in repeats; therefore, there’s not really all that much to see here.
The CW – The penultimate episode of “No Tomorrow” (likely for the entire series) drew a 0.2 rating. This is a show that does have a lot of good qualities, but for one reason or another, it failed to materialize into a hit and lost a bigger percentage of its lead-in than almost any other show out there on TV this season. Odds are, it’s toast in May, even if there are many people who enjoy it.
