‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8: Nina Dobrev – series finale appearance is still uncertain
At this particular point, it feels fairly clear that the interest is very much there in Nina Dobrev appearing during the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” She was such an enormous part of the show for so long that was almost impossible to imagine the show going on with her.
Yet, that much has clearly happened. We’d argue that the show’s done some good stuff since Dobrev departed, and in many ways turned out far better than we expected going into it. We do think that the show can end without her turning up, but it wouldn’t be the same and it’d feel wrong to not properly tribute the original star.
Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Julie Plec said recently that she was still unsure if Dobrev was going to show up or not, citing scheduling and availability as the main reason for that. Personally, we do feel like everyone involved is going to figure out a way in which for it to happen, but it may be one of those things where the writers could up with two different plans in the event that they are able to bring her on board. Given that the series finale of this show is airing in March, it shouldn’t be that long now before they have to start get production moving on it.
We should also not here that we have a very hard time thinking that Plec or anyone else would announce in advance that Dobrev was coming back if she was — we could see them announcing ahead of time if she is not coming back, if for no other reason than getting a potential distraction out of the way. After all, they do not want to disappoint anybody.
