‘Conviction’ episode 12 preview: ‘Enemy Combatant’ brings you closer to finale
The unfortunate news for fans of “Conviction” is that there are only two episodes left for the season. Also, the odds are still fairly high that these will be the final episodes of the series. The ratings stumbled with the move to Sundays last week — and we have to imagine that airing on New Year’s Day is not something that helped the show in the slightest.
Regardless of what happens, the best thing to do, of course, is to dive in and enjoy every last drop of story that remains, and this includes the new episode “Enemy Combatant” that is airing on ABC in one week’s time. This is an episode that is going to feature Hayes’ father in an important role, and while his presence may prove valuable for the Conviction Integrity Unit, at the same exact time he could throw a wrench into what is going on with his daughter’s personal life.
Synopsis – “Former President Morrison pays Hayes an unexpected visit and lobbies her (and CIU) to take on the case of Omar Abbas, a Muslim-American citizen held for years without trial in a military facility for allegedly planning a chemical attack on Manhattan. But taking on the federal war on terror is a hot-button issue, and Hayes and the CIU find themselves battling the authorities in their search for the truth. Meanwhile, just as Hayes and Wallace become more comfortable with their relationship, her father raises questions about the couple’s long-term viability.”
There’s obviously quite a bit that is going on within this hour, and some of it could prove really timely when you consider the current sentiment surrounding terrorism and paranoia that exists within the world. It’s somewhat of a shame that the show doesn’t have a larger platform to share its message.
