Could a ‘West Wing’ reunion happen? Rob Lowe seems open to idea
Let’s face it: We are clearly in the age of the TV revival at the moment. Everyone is interested in getting some more of their favorite shows back on the air, and there were many years where “The West Wing” was considered to be one of the greatest programs on the air. It was dominant at a time when network TV was still prominent over cable, and in some ways, it is one of the last great awards-show titans from this era, and it’s a show that people do very much still miss.
With that in mind, it’s not much of a shock to hear that Rob Lowe would be interested in coming back — even if he didn’t even stay for the entirety of the run of the series. Speaking to TV Guide while promoting “Code Black” at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, the actor had the following to say when it comes to getting another chance on the show:
“I’m always up for [a] Netflix The West Wing reboot … I know [show creator] Aaron [Sorkin] would have some unbelievable, unexpected journey that Sam would have been on.”
To us, the obvious reason to bring “The West Wing” back is that it’s brilliant, and there are few shows that captured the office of the Presidency as brilliantly as it did. Meanwhile, the downside is just that you already have something so brilliant. Unless Sorkin has something more to say here that is brilliant and relevant to today, we’re not sure we need the show back. There are so many great seasons and memories that we have to look back at.
