Golden Globes 2017: Jimmy Fallon’s star-studded opening; a look behind the scenes

Globes -

With the 2017 Golden Globes airing on NBC Sunday night, we thought that the timing would be right to give you some information regarding everything that is going to be coming up on the show — beginning with the news that there will be a star-powered opening like no other.

You see, the thing is that when you hire Jimmy Fallon as a host, you’re not going to get someone who is going to stand there and roast people like Ricky Gervais likes to do. He’s an inoffensive comedian, and much of his strength lies more in sketches and pre-taped pieces. This is why we’re going to see a pre-recorded opening to the show this year, something that is very new and different for the “Golden Globes”.

Will it be a people pleaser? Jimmy has done a good job with these sorts of pieces when he opened the Emmys or even at his full-time job over on “The Tonight Show.” What we do know is that there are going to be many A-list cameos involved in it, as everyone tries to come up with an opening that is viral and able to spread around the internet even after the show airs.

Want some insight into a behind-the-scenes part of the show? We’ve also got something rather fun that is all about that. In the video below, you can see a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association offering up a little tease of the process that goes on when it comes to seating arrangements. While for the most part you do tend to see stars of various movies / TV shows sitting together, you do have a tendency to see a few surprise guests turn up for various reasons. Sometimes, they were invited, whereas at other points they are there to present and need good seating so that they can get on and off the stage quickly.

The Golden Globes are going to air on NBC on Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Be sure to tell us what you want to see in the show in the comments below!

If you’ve missed it, we’ve also been analyzing all of the TV nominees and snubs over the past two weeks. You can read up more about that just by heading over to the link here(Photo: Golden Globes.)
