‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: JoAnna Garcia Swisher returning as Ariel

Given that Ariel remains one of the most popular Disney characters ever, it only make sense that “Once Upon a Time” would find a way to bring her back into the fold before this season came to an end.

According to Entertainment Weekly, JoAnna Garcia Swisher is poised to be returning to the series at some point in the second half of this season as Ariel, who is going to be taking part in what could be an exciting storyline. Here is what executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz had to say on the subject:

“Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine [Karen David] as they join Hook [Colin O’Donoghue] on an adventure as he and Emma [Jennifer Morrison] face a daunting challenge that requires a big time princess team-up.”

Sound fun? It certainly does to us, and this is the first time we’ve seen Ariel on the show in two seasons. Like with many other characters with this show, one of the biggest problems with getting her back is simply a matter of proper scheduling. The show has to figure out a way in which to get Swisher on board when she is not working on something else, and that’s not always all that easy. We’re lucky to have her at any opportunity we can – We love the actress and we love, love, love The Little Mermaid!

We also hope that we get the character back for at least one appearance in the future whenever the final season of the show airs — and for the record, we don’t think that this is the final season. More than likely, there’s going to be at the very least one more opportunity to see some of these characters after this.
