‘MacGyver’ episode 12 preview: Getting to know Jack
The first new episode of “MacGyver” in the new year is airing on CBS Friday night, and judging from some of the new sneak peeks that the network has released for it, it absolutely does look as though there are some rather exciting stuff coming up … especially when it comes to Jack.
In the first of the two previews that we’ve got for “Screwdriver” below, you can see the return of Amy Acker as Sarah, who is bringing in Jack and the team on a new operation due mostly to Mac’s past connection to Nikki. Jack does his best to try to assert authority (he’s Jack, so of course he’s got a massive ego about wanting to be in charge), but is quickly shot down in the process. This is her op, and if they want to be a part of it in any way, they can be.
Also, we kind of love that this sneak preview does ultimately descend into a little bit of bickering between the parties over a wedding invitation.
The second sneak peek is more along the lines of Jack being awesome in the midst of an interrogation, offering up a little bit of backstory and a little bit of swagger. This is what George Eads’ does so well as this character; he has such a confidence about him (not so much ego in this case) that he doesn’t flinch where so many other people do. He’s got a casual demeanor that Mac doesn’t have, and that’s what makes him invaluable as a partner. Both parties effectively manage to cover one another’s weaknesses.
As you would expect, we’ll of course be back to review “Screwdriver,” which is also featuring a return from Murdoc, tomorrow night. Stay tuned…
