‘Vikings’ season 4, episode 17 preview: ‘The Great Army’ and what that means

There are times when History chooses to give you a great deal of information in advance for upcoming episodes of “Vikings,” and then there are times when you’ve got almost nothing at all. In this particular case, what we’ve got for you is the latter … though we do have a really great title to discuss.

Next week, we’re looking towards an episode entitled “The Great Army,” and we like to think that this alone is well worth the cost of admission. This army is going to be coming at us with Ivar leading the charge. He needs help if he’s going to kill Lagertha, but more then that he needs a huge army if he’s going to avenge Ragnar’s death. King Ecbert and king Aella have huge armies and right now the vikings are divided with some of their greatest warriors on the other side of the world with Bjorn and Floki. They need time to build this army and they will need Floki back to build them boats to get back to England.

Here’s another thing to remember: The show has a few more episodes to go until the end of this season and another 20 coming up for season 5. This show is known for it’s epic battle scenes so we expect that if Ivar is building towards a showdown, that it may not happen before season 4 ends. History loves to build towards their battles so the pay off is always good.

Promo – We have that for you below, and it certainly makes it clear that Ivar is going to be ruthless in their pursuit of Lagertha, who they feel is worthy of retribution. While we don’t necessarily get an epic battle scene within this video, we’d say that we do get the next-best thing in the buildup to what could easily be one.
