‘Criminal Minds’ season 12 spoilers: ‘Lost’ alum Harold Perrineau signs on for major role

Criminal Minds -We are currently in the midst of the twelfth season of “Criminal Minds,” and there have been a wide array of new faces already in between Adam Rodriguez and Damon Gupton joining the show. Now, we’re getting set to meet another new one, though this one may only be around on a recurring basis.

As first reported by TVLine, former “Lost” actor Harold Perrineau is going to be coming aboard the long-running CBS show in the part of Calvin Shaw for several episodes. He’s a former FBI agent, but one with a checkered past (to say the least) given that he was jailing for apparently killing one of his informants. At some point in an upcoming episode, there will be a confrontation between him and a member of the BAU that raises questions as to if he can be used, or if he will betray the team in a devastating way.

This news is beyond exciting to us for several different reasons. For one, Perrineau is incredibly accomplished in a wide array of different things. We personally loved him on “Sons of Anarchy,” and “Constantine” remains a show that should’ve received a much longer life on TV than it ultimately had. (If only there was a way to magically change that.) Also, we do always think that “Criminal Minds” is best when you’ve got some morally ambiguous people sticking around for longer than an episode or two. Even though we cannot say for sure that this character of Shaw is a villain, the threat of that is almost as important as anything else.

New episodes of “Criminal Minds” will continue through next week; therefore, expect a robust amount of coverage over the next week or so.
