Megyn Kelly says farewell on Fox News, explains reason for NBC News move

Fox NewsOn Tuesday, the surprising news first broke that longtime Fox News journalist, host, and personality Megyn Kelly was going to be departing, and heading over to NBC in a new venture that would allow her to do a daytime show, take part in some Sunday coverage, and have a wide array of other responsibilities to go along with it.

While in some ways you can consider this a risk given that Kelly’s “The Kelly File” was a ratings champion over at Fox, sometimes you just feel like it’s time for a change — and that appears to be one of the reasons why Megyn is making this move. She also cites in the video below an interest in having more time for a “human connection” with her children, who are all still very young. Having this time may have been more important to her than money; we bring this up because we have a hard time thinking that NBC was offering her the same amount of money that Fox was to stick around and continue with them.

In the end, all parties will press on, and we’ll see what happens. Like we said after reporting the news yesterday, we do have a feeling that Fox is going to be more than fine as they press onward into the future. They are cognizant of the fact that they have a specific base, and so long as they appeal to that base, they’re going to be more than fine. NBC has more potentially to gain given that their ratings for the most part are not on par with Fox News; however, they also have far more competition given that they do not have the same sort of political viewpoint.

Kelly’s last episode of her show is going to be coming up on Fox News a little later this week.
