‘Dancing with the Stars’ couple Peta Murgatroyd, Maksim Chmerkovskiy welcome Shai Aleksander

Mrs. Carter: The “Dancing with the Stars” family now officially has another new member!

According to a new report from People Magazine, Peta Murgatroyd and her fiance Maksim Schmerkovskiy welcomed early this morning in New York City a baby boy named Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy. In a statement, the couple kept their thoughts on the subject simple:

“This is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to us!”

This child is the culmination of a lengthy relationship between the two professional dancers, who first became engaged back in 2015 following a dance performance (fittingly). There aren’t any precise plans at the moment for a wedding, but we figure at the moment, the couple can simply keep things simple and celebrate the fact that they have this new addition in their lives. They’ve got plenty of time coming up to celebrate being parents; Maks has already said that he has no intention to return to the ABC dance competition in the spring, citing an interest in being there for much of the early days of his child being a part of the world. Meanwhile, we imagine that Peta could do something similar, and maybe one of the two of them will return to the show in the fall. It’s a little too early to start speculating on that too much.

For the time being, let’s just send the two of them our congratulations! We’re sure that there are going to be many sleepless nights ahead for the two of them, but hopefully they are going to be prepared to tackle what is next and then some.
