‘Bones’ season 12: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz reflect on Brennan, Booth’s journey
When you get into the final season of a show, it only makes sense that you start to spend a little bit of time looking back at everything that got you there, and what made you so popular in the first place. When it comes to “Bones,” there are so many reasons why it’s here and why fans have been so loyal. They’ve come to care about the characters, appreciate the show’s optimism, and also cried when things got dark and dramatic. It’s a show with many different layers, and you’ve had a chance to see those unfold over time. It’s a show about solving crimes, but also about caring for people and about the wonderful relationships that have formed over time.
The love story of Booth and Brennan over the years is one of the biggest components to the series’ success, and as David Boreanaz said in a reflective new piece to USA Today, one of the reasons why this relationship worked so well over the years is because these characters brought out something better in each other:
“Booth taught her compassion and love for others, that you have to take your time and not blurt things out … He taught her how to see people for who they are, not what they are. She was always very clinical, so he opened up her life force. For Booth, it was being able to recognize the clinical aspects of the job that he was doing. Booth fell not only for her, but her determination and passion for finding the killer or getting the job done.”
This is something that Deschanel concurred with, saying that “when people love each other, they change each other for the better, and I think that’s certainly the case with Booth and Brennan.”
The new season tonight is going to start with Brennan in danger at the hands of Zack Addy, who has her seemingly captive for some unknown motive. As we start to move onward from this story, we’ll see a mixture of typical “Bones” cases and also larger mythology pieces where we answer some long-simmering questions while further establishing what the series’ ultimate endgame will be.
What is it about Booth and Brennan that you’ve enjoyed so much over the course of the series? Share with your thoughts now in the comments, and head over here if you are so intrigued to see some other “Bones” video highlights and so much more. (Photo: Fox.)

Booth & Brennan is the reason I have watched Bones all these years. I by chance one night was going through Netflix to find something to watch. Needless to say, I was a Bones follower after that. What attracted me to Bones was B&B’S chemistry together. The first couple seasons they bickered, but the way they looked at each other, with that special chemistry & then the chemistry became more intense: WOW! I love ALL the other cast, but B&B is my favorite. My special #1 Episode was FINALLY=THE WEDDING, I dearly love ALL BONES EPISODES, but The Wedding was spectacular. I could go on and on, but I think you get the message. It makes me sad to know they are ending BONES, THE BEST SHOW ON ANY NETWORK TV. I will miss them on the TV screen, but, THANK GOD, I will be watching re-run & my DVD’S.
