Debra Messing says ‘Will & Grace’ revival ‘nothing but talks’

Will and Grace -

While it feels pretty darn clear at the moment that we all want a revival series of “Will & Grace” in the future, apparently it is not anywhere near as confirmed as former guest star Leslie Jordan made everyone thing recently.

In a post on Twitter responding to questions about the revival project, former series star Debra Messing confirmed that there was “nothing beyond talks” at the moment with the project. The fact that she confirmed that there talks still is promising, mostly because it shows that there is discussion and there is some interest there in all parties.

As we said when the initial comments from Jordan came out, we do very much feel like he wouldn’t say something unless he genuinely felt like it was going to happen. Therefore, we’d be shocked if this doesn’t come together at some point or in some form. There are just many different moving parts. Even if there are holes in the schedules for the various stars, they have so many different commitments now in between producing, live performing, and also stuff in their personal lives. Trying to find a way to coordinate all of this is something that would, understandably, prove rather difficult.

In Jordan’s comments, he claimed that the show would start filming a ten-episode season this summer. If that does turn out to happen, then NBC has a lot of time to figure this out. This seems like the perfect project for them to announce at around May when the upfronts are, so don’t be altogether dismayed if the next month or two passes and there is not anything more concrete in the way of news. This would still give the writers plenty of time to come up with new stories.

It almost goes without asking, but do you want more “Will & Grace” on the air later this year? Let us know in the comments, and of course stay tuned for some further updates on the subject.
