‘Bull’ spoilers: Michael Weatherly mum on Isabella return; should she come back?
Earlier this season on “Bull,” we had a chance to see a more personal side to the title character as we saw for the first time Bull’s ex-wife Isabella Colon, a woman who he clearly cared about during the marriage, but at the same time someone he fully showed the right amount of empathy for at the right time. For example, he couldn’t find it within himself to grieve properly over a miscarriage, and that may be one of several reasons why that didn’t work out.
Yet, when Yara Martinez appeared as Isabella earlier this season, you can easily see that there was something there. It was one of the better depictions of an ex on TV out there given that there was some animosity, but it wasn’t cartoonish or brash. You could still also see bits and pieces of amicability, and it would be interesting to see this character return down the line.
Unfortunately, for the time being all parties involved are keeping mum on that, with Michael Weatherly saying that he doesn’t know if Martinez will be back this season in an interview with TV Guide. With that said, he did drop the following tease that we absolutely find to be rather cryptic:
“I don’t know if she’s the only wife he has. Bull’s pretty close to the vest, and I think there might be some other stuff going on.”
What this means is potentially exciting in the sense that there could be more people out there to provide an interesting window into the soul of who this man is. It’s exciting, and it is something that, should the writers choose to cast another ex, they could introduce down the road. Maybe you can argue that there is an ex from when he was extremely young that he married before he was ready, and who has a relationship with him now that is far more testy?
