‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2017′: Jenny McCarthy, Donnie Wahlberg kiss at midnight

In what may be the least surprising news out there, tonight’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” ended with a kiss between McCarthy and her husband Donnie Wahlberg. The show’s co-host and the “Blue Bloods” star have been married for a couple of years now, and therefore they’ve had a chance to ring in the New Year together.

So why does this even matter in the grand scheme of things on New Year’s Eve? A lot of that has to do with tradition. Before she and Donnie were together, one of the trends for Rockin’ Eve was McCarthy having some fun with finding a person to kiss at the stroke of midnight; one year, the public even voted on it during the show! Of course, this led to many a question about who was the recipient of said kiss after the fact.

Now, writing about it almost feels like a tradition, or a rite of passage that gets us properly into the new year. It’s always been one of the last articles that we’ve written about at this particular point in the year, and we like to think of it as a really nice jumping-off point to everything that is coming in the year that follows. Hopefully, this marks a great start to 2017 for all of you out there! We’re looking forward to a fun, eventful year — and one that hopefully brings you a little bit more happiness than what we got for much of the year so far.
