Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin chat with Gavin DeGraw; crashing a Dallas Wedding in Hour 2 of New Year’s Eve

We said that we were going to look at the entire CNN broadcast with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin hour by hour, and here we are to fulfill that promise by looking at a silly, ridiculous second hour that gave us a lot of goodness … but also didn’t give us nearly enough of Don Lemon for our taste. What gives, CNN? Drunk Don is the best part of the whole show!

Nonetheless, there were a few funny parts of this hour of the special worth commemorating in stone.

Richard Quest screaming at people to scream back – He’s ridiculous, and therefore he is the best person to send down to the streets to communicate with ordinary people. We’re never sure if it is intentional or not, but he always makes us laugh.

The wedding crasher – Lynn Smith of HLN has the assignment tonight in Dallas, where she decided at one point that crashing a wedding would be a good idea — even though it was very obvious that they were in on the act beforehand.

Sean Hannity jokes – Basically, one of the best ways to needle Anderson is by drawing a comparison between him and some other newsmen on the air.

Gavin DeGraw’s random interview – The “I Don’t Wanna Be” singer happened to be around Times Square, and he randomly came in to talk with Anderson and his good friend Kathy. This was slightly interesting, mostly because the entire thing seemed to be entirely off-the-cuff and unprepared. DeGraw is rather funny! It’s not a side that you get to see from him most of the time, largely because he spends the majority of his time singing on TV. (Go figure! He’s a singer — they’re typically not bringing him on to tell jokes.)
