‘Gotham’ season 3: Can we give Harvey Bullock more love?

Gotham -If we were to make one New Year’s Resolution for “Gotham” moving into the new year, it would be this: Try to find a way, if at all possible, to manage to get Harvey Bullock more in the mix. He is a character who we very much love, but at the same time, he’s someone who really had not had a whole lot to do over the course of the past season or two.

So what can the show do to change this in 2017? We’ve got a few handy suggestions, and we don’t exactly think that the majority of these are all too difficult.

1. Give him more backstory – Can we meet someone who is a member of his family, or at the very least someone else who had a long-term relationship to the guy? We feel like Harvey was more involved when the show was a little less like a comic-book, but there is a way to bring a little bit more of that back. Just cast someone who you can tie into the story of a major villain.

2. Make a villain target him – If he does end up being the new Captain, it makes some sense that the crosshairs would be put on him. If you get rid of him, doesn’t the whole force splinter off in some way?

3. Establish a bond between him and another regular – Are you going to tell us that seeing him and Alfred hang out wouldn’t be fun? We could see some of those scenes being electric, entertaining, and a chorus of assorted goofiness and fun.

If there is one thing we don’t want to see over the remainder of the third season, the answer to that is rather simple: Don’t kill him off. He’s a great character who brings the right about of lightness, and we know that Donal Logue is a wonderful actor. We would understand losing him to push Jim Gordon up the ranks, but can’t we find another way to get him to be Commissioner?
