‘The Originals’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss on state on Elijah, Hayley
It feels like it’s been a long time since there’s been much in the way of news to report on “The Originals,” but we hardly consider that a surprise. The show’s been off the air for the entire season so far, and is not ultimately premiering until the spring at the conclusion of “The Vampire Diaries” in March.
When the show does return, as a quick refresher you’re going to be seeing a dramatically different version of it than before. Years will have passed, and many members of the first family of vampires will still be trapped away. This means no more Klaus (for now), and no More Elijah. Given his relationship with Hayley, this is particularly sad given it’s not entirely clear how to get him out of this state — but we have to assume that multiple people try.
Eventually, the fair assumption here is that things will start to get better and he will return — when he does, however, that is no guarantee that any one is going to off and have some happy parade where everything is okay and there is little to no drama in the world. This is something that executive producer Michael Narducci elaborates on further in an interview with TVLine:
“These are two people who clearly love each other, even though they have a very complicated situation. Elijah is a thousand-year-old vampire with a sense of honor and dignity, yet he’s capable of doing unspeakable things. Hayley, despite being a hybrid, has only lived a mortal lifetime, and she has values and ethics that approximate those of a human being. When their family is put in jeopardy, these two people are going to do whatever they have to do to protect each other.”
Let’s hope that there is a little bit more in the way of resolution with this story over the season, given that there is a certain amount of great unknown that exists beyond it. With “The Vampire Diaries” ending this season, it’s possible that The CW may decide to send both shows off into the sunset together. Hopefully, more information will be clear as the series progresses on.
If you missed it, one character from “The Originals” was honored as a part of the ‘Ship of the Year at the CarterMatt Awards. Head over here to read all about that! (Photo: The CW.)
