‘Timeless’ season 1: Five time periods we’d like to see Abigail Spencer, cast visit

Timeless -Unfortunately, once again there is no new episode of “Timeless” airing on NBC Monday night, and we figure that this is a tradition that, regrettably, is going to hold for a little bit moving into the future.

We’re not here to talk about the future, though; instead, we want to dive further into the past! Since this is a show that is all about the spirit of adventure, we want to discuss some potentially-interesting time periods that we could see the show visit that they haven’t so far through ten episodes. There aren’t any major spoilers ahead, so don’t worry about having anything ruined for you when it comes to what’s happening with Lucy Preston and Garcia Flynn.

Feudal Japan – We know that “Legends of Tomorrow” recently did an episode here, but there is still something so fascinating about the dynamics and the honor-based culture of the time that is so fundamentally different than what we’ve seen to date. Also, Lucy, Rufus, and Wyatt would really have to get creative when it comes to fitting in on the other side of the world.

Victorian England – Imagine the costumes! Basically, we’d really love to see the show go a little “Downton Abbey” for an episode as the team had to uncover some sort of mystery hidden within the British upper class.

Alcatraz – There are actually two interesting periods of history that the show could work with here: The days of it as the infamous prison, and then also the brief Native American occupation of the island, which is a story that does merit significantly more attention. We do think here and there that there are opportunities for education with this show, and we’ve seen that play out already.

The War of 1812 – We’ve seen a lot of the American Revolution to date, so why not focus on this battle now? As someone who’s a dual citizen of the United States and Canada, let’s just say that America does have a tendency to leave a few details out in the history books.

Ancient Rome – Okay, we have absolutely no idea what story would await Abigail Spencer and the rest of the cast there, since it’s hard to see why Flynn would want to visit the place to help change his present. Maybe you save it for season 2?

Given that three out of our five suggestions are international, that should give you an indication that our preference with this show lies with them opening up the world more. We’re sure that poses challenges for the people working in Vancouver (the show can’t really travel from country to country), but they’ve done a good job masking things so far for each era. Why not see if you can continue the trend?
