‘The Blacklist: Redemption’: When could a promo for spin-off series air?
Earlier this fall, we had a decent stretch of new episodes for “The Blacklist,” and at one point a subtle reminder that the spin-off “The Blacklist: Redemption” is coming featuring Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen. We don’t know how much of the character we’re going to be seeing when the show returns on January 5 with new episodes, but the spin-off is going to air on February 23 and will run for eight weeks.
On this Christmas Day, the primary question that we’re going to be asking is a rather simple one: When are we going to have a chance to see the first preview for the new series air? Filming is underway featuring Eggold and Famke Janssen, but there are still not all that many answers known regarding the future of the show.
If we had to guess, a reasonably time for a preview for “Redemption” to air would be around January 26, close to a month away from the premiere and hopefully at a point when Tom is away from this show and you can actually promote it without giving anything away. While you may already have somewhat of a build-in audience here, you still need to figure out a way to recruit viewers — especially potential new ones who are not watching the flagship show.
In terms of gauging its overall success, we do still think that this is a rather difficult thing for anyone to do. While we want to remain hopeful that this show can get good ratings and turn out to be rather popular, at the same time it faces challenges given that it’s attached already to another franchise. Not only that, but Tom is a polarizing character to some people who watch that show. Our feeling is that any new series is worth a chance, so we’ll be checking it out to see what unfolds.
