‘Bones’ season 12 video: All about Zack Addy

The premiere of “Bones” season 12 is coming in early January, and with this being the final season, we know that there are quite a few different things to look forward to.

For the sake of the new preview below, though, we’re putting most of the focus on one thing above all else: The return of Eric Millegan as Zack Addy. He was at one point a beloved character within this world, but things went off the rails for him many years ago and the one-time “King of the Lab” was institutionalized. What this recap video does so effectively is that it guides you through how he’s been emotionally processing things over the years, including his relationship with Sweets — a moment that reminds us that it’d be really great to have a Sweets flashback at some point during the season just for old times’ sake.

Is Zack going to be a psychotic killer? That is one of the primary questions that we know many people have going into this season, but we still want to believe that he’s not, and that there is somehow something a little bit deeper going on here. It’s possible that Zack could be trying to protect Brennan in some way — he always did have a fondness and a respect for her — just as it’s also possible that he could be working for someone else and is stuck as a glorified errand boy.

Given that we really haven’t seen much of Zack over the past several years, this leaves open all sorts of possibilities. Whatever we see from him during the early going of the final season, we know that he will have a few separate appearances. Therefore, you should expect that this is not a story that is going to be resolved right away.
