‘Outlander’ season 3: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan send out holiday well-wishes; also, further gratitude

With today serving as both Christmas Eve and the official beginning of Hanukkah, there is no better time to start sending out some season’s greetings and warm messages of holiday cheer. The folks at “Outlander” seem to agree, given that they have released brief videos below featuring stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan wishing everyone a warm and happy holiday.

While both of the videos below are relatively short, there is one especially funny moment in the one featuring Sam where he pulls up a drink from out of frame a couple of seconds in to give a toast. It’s like getting a sentimental greeting and then realizing that it’s time to party halfway through! We don’t know if it was meant to be intentionally funny or not, but it certainly gave us a good laugh.

These videos were clearly shot in the middle of production for season 3, which is ongoing and will feel at times certainly like a very different batch of episodes than any that we’ve seen so far. After all, it is hard to know how else to describe them given that Jamie (Heughan) and Claire (Balfe) are going to be a big part of the episodes to come — but doesn’t distance make the heart grow fonder? That is, at the very least, the hope when the famous reunion does happen.

Before we sign off here on this fine December 24, we of course want to extend our own gratitude to everyone out there for being a part of our own little CarterMatt family, and allowing us to do TV reporting in our own way year in and year out. This is the fifth Christmas we’ve had an opportunity to celebrate since starting up the site, so a toast to you and yours! If we had a drink, we’d be pulling it into frame right about now. It’s a time of joy, peace, and for some of you out there (as Balfe references), potentially enjoying a little bit of “Outlander” along the way.
