‘Sherlock’ season 4, episode 1 spoilers: ‘The Six Thatchers’ and Mary Watson’s past
Can you believe that the wait for new “Sherlock” is almost at an end? It’s been almost a year since we last saw something new for the show in “The Abominable Bride,” and come January 1, the series featuring Benedict Cumberbatch is going to finally be in action once more for an episode entitled “The Six Thatchers” — if that wasn’t enough to have your interest piqued, hopefully getting a few more details all about it will!
Below, you can see the official BBC synopsis for the show, which gives you a little bit of a sense that Sherlock is going to be wrestling further with some demons, and yet, the biggest one out there may be tied to a different person altogether: John Watson’s wife. It’s a little bit of a surprise reveal for the characters, and we are intrigued to see where this story takes them:
“In episode one of this new series, written by Mark Gatiss, Sherlock waits to see where Moriarty will make his posthumous move.
“One mysterious case in particular baffles Scotland Yard – but Sherlock is more interested in a seemingly-trivial detail. Why is someone destroying images of the late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher? Is there a madman on the loose? Or is there a much darker purpose at work? Something with its roots deep in Mary Watson’s past…”
This episode is going to kick off what will hopefully be an exciting three-episode stretch, and if the photo above is meant to be any indication, things may be starting off at the very least peaceful enough. Mary’s got a wonderful family with John and their child, and Sherlock’s almost a bit like the overly-serious-but-fun-at-times uncle who wants to care and protective, but doesn’t quite know how. It’s a weird family unit, but isn’t that part of the fun?
Before we get around to “The Six Thatchers” airing, of course we’re going to have some further news regarding “Sherlock” to come! For now, the best tease that we can offer is to head over to the link here if you are particularly excited to check a lot of that out. (Photo: BBC One.)
