‘Falling Water’ season 2: Does USA series have a chance?
Earlier this week, the season finale of “Falling Water” aired on USA, and one of the questions that you are of course left to wonder is whether or not we could end up seeing this show renewed for another season.
Is it going to happen? The one thing that we can say for certain right now is that it’s something that we’d certainly like to see, but there is a clear difference between something we’d like to see happen and then, of course, that said thing actually happening. There’s a lot of ground that this show still needs to cover, and one of the biggest things on its plate is probably going to be overcoming a few ratings hurdles.
Let’s begin now with the bad news, just because we always find that best so that there’s some room left to recover. In the 18-49 demographic so far, we’ve seen this show draw on average just over a 0.1 rating, which certainly leaves something to be desired. Compare this to another show in its first year right now airing on USA in “Shooter,” which is averaging a 0.5 rating in the demo. These are both first-year shows, and while “Shooter” is unusually strong for a first-year cable show, you still want “Falling Water” to do better.
Here’s the good news: As we reported recently, a deal with Amazon may be giving the show a little bit more of a chance, mostly because it’s a further venue that can be used in order to monetize the show and bring in a little bit of money. Sometimes, you have to take almost any little victory you can on the road to seeing whether or not a show comes back.
