‘Game of Thrones’ will have epic six-season marathon leading up to New Year’s Day
If you are really bored at any point next week, HBO seems to be ready to come to your rescue courtesy of the Mother of Dragons and all of the various members of House Stark. After all, they are plotting a “Game of Thrones” marathon like no other!
The premium cable network confirmed on Twitter (see below) that beginning on December 26, every season of the show would be broadcast daily on HBO 2. For example, on Monday you will get season 1, and then season 2 the next day. This will continue at length until you get around to the sixth season on New Year’s Eve.
Who knows? Maybe you’re planning an epic party and need to have something good on while you prepare for a few days; or, maybe you just wanted to do a re-watch and you don’t have HBO GO or HBO NOW to do it. Either way, this is a viable alternative, and this is a show that brings a lot to the table when it comes to entertainment. (If you’re reading this, you probably know that.)
Unfortunately, you will still be waiting for an extremely long period of time in order to see the seventh season air. Given the current state of the HBO schedule, June or July are the best guesses for the premiere month; the third and final season of “The Leftovers” is premiering in April, but since it is only running for eight episodes and should not slow anything down too much. The one bummer is that when “Game of Thrones” does eventually premiere, it will be doing so for just seven episodes before going on hiatus again. The eighth and final season is expected to come your way in 2018.
