‘Vikings’ season 4, episode 15 preview: Could Ragnar die in ‘All His Angels’?
The first thing that we want to do over the course of this particular “Vikings” article is hand down a generous dose of praise to some of the people over at History for having the guts to continue to run this series during the holiday season. This is not the sort of decision that is easy in many ways (there aren’t always a ton of people around during the holiday season), but in doing so what they’re showing fans more than anything else is commitment to not confusing viewers with weeks with no episodes.
With this in mind, there is a new episode of the show airing next week at the same 9:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot. As for what we know about this episode is the title: “All His Angels.” It’s a bit of a scary title considering that Ragnar just basically planned his death with King Ecbert in tonight’s episode. Is Ragnar going to meet his maker?
One other thing we can tell you now for those curious is that “Crossings” will be the title for the new episode airing on January 4; it’s an interesting strategy to run your show during the holiday season, and so far it doesn’t seem to be hurting the show all that much (even if it did post a season-low 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic earlier in the month). We ultimately expect that it must be rather comforting to have a season 5 renewal while a lot of this experimenting is taking place in terms of the scheduling.
Preview – Based on what we saw in the preview for next week’s episode, it looks as though Ragnar is being delivered over to King Aella following the events of tonight’s episode when he made the deal with King Ecbert. We see Ragnar get brutalized in a pretty horrible way, and it does raise the question as to if we could be losing this character soon. We do think that the specter of what could happen to Ragnar, given what we know from history, is hanging over the entire show at the moment. We just have to see when this particular anvil drops.
