‘Bones’ season 12 spoilers: A birthday surprise

It feels like we’ve spent a significant amount of time as of late discussing the final season of “Bones” in terms of how it is going to end, so why not flip things around for a minute and focus on the opposite? Therefore, we’re going to be putting more of the focus in this article on how the show is going to be giving you some good stuff a little bit earlier on in the season, as well! They’re not just saving all of the great stuff for the end of the road here.

The second episode of this season is entitled “The Brain in the Bot,” and one of the elements of the story that we are the most intrigued to see is what exactly Brennan has planned for her big 40th birthday. Apparently, whatever it is may be a little bit more of a surprise for everyone else than it is for herself! This seems almost like a Hobbit birthday on the surface, where you tend to give out gifts for other people more so than the opposite.

As for the case at the center of the episode, there is an element of this that certainly sounds like “Westworld.” The Jeffersonian will be looking at the body of a man who was responsible for working with and creating some AIs, and they have to figure out whether or not one of these robots may have been programmed to kill him. Presumably, there is some human involvement given that otherwise we have some sort of robot uprising on our hands, and while that would be hilarious to watch in this universe, it’s really not that kind of show. Then again, given that technically this is now within the same world as “Sleepy Hollow,” isn’t anything possible?

This episode is going to air on Tuesday, January 10, one week after the final season premieres.
