We should start off this particular “NCIS” article with a little bit of bad news: There is no new episode coming on the air tonight. While you got a little bit of holiday spirit last week with the Ducky-centric “The Ties That Bind,” the goodwill is not going to continue moving into tonight.

Ultimately, the simplest reason for there not being a new episode is because CBS largely ended airing new episodes of many of their shows last night leading up to the Christmas holiday, and while they will be returning early in the new year with new installments, you still have to wait that long. In the case of this show in particular, you are going to have to wait until Tuesday, January 3 in order to check out the first episode back in “Willoughby.” This marks an opportunity to see a little bit of teamwork between Bishop and her new boyfriend Qasim (Rafi Silver) to try and break a new case together after they determine that there are some dangerous actions harming the stock market.

While we’re not sure that the entirety of this episode is going to be geared around Emily Wickersham and her character, we do feel like this image is a pretty clear indicator that Bishop’s story is going to continue to remain important moving into the new year. She’s the only character on the show in a new relationship like this, and there are some worthy avenues that can be explored within it. The other characters who do have relationships, such as McGee and Delilah, are in a very different place. There’s a comfort level there, so we’re not quite sure there would be any tension if the two of them were working together at this point.

The last thing that we can tell you within the span of this story is that while there is a new episode of the show on the third, it does not appear that there will be another new episode airing on CBS until Tuesday, January 17 at the earliest. This is standard operating procedure for the network in January to air a new episode followed by a repeat right away, but it’s something to be aware of in advance.
