Zsa Zsa Gabor dead at 99; socialite appeared on ‘Mister Ed,’ ‘The Facts of Live,’ and even ‘Batman’
While Zsa Zsa Gabor was in her heyday at a time in which social media and the internet were not around, we have a feeling if it was, she would’ve been quite the sensation. She was one of the most-known socialites of her era, and dominated many headlines for a certain time.
According to TMZ, she unfortunately is no longer with us. She passed away on Sunday after suffering a heart attack, and died just shy of turning 100 years old.
While Gabor wasn’t known exclusively as a TV actress, she did make a wide array of appearances over the course of her life on many different shows, whether it be “The Red Skelton Hour,” “Burke’s Law,” “Mister Ed,” “The Facts of Life,” “Bonanza,” “Knots Landing,” the classic “Batman” as Minerva, and even more recently “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” There was a time when she would appear on talk shows just to give a face to what a “celebrity” was during her time. Her last TV credit was still over two decades ago on “Cybill,” and prior to that “Empty Nest.” (The photo above is from her “Mister Ed” appearance.)
In terms of TV appearances, Gabor’s sister Eva may be the more notable of the two, having appeared on “Fantasy Island,” “The Love Boat,” “Petticoat Junction,” and of course more than 150 episodes of the classic “Green Acres.” Eva Gabor passed away back in 1995. Unfortunately, most of the headlines surrounding Zsa Zsa in recent years have revolved around various medical issues, including one that led to the amputation of her leg. Hopefully, she had a chance to live out some of these quiet final years in peace, and without having to deal with an abundance of attention from the media.
Thoughts and condolences go out to all who cared about her during this difficult time. (Photo: CBS.)
