‘Game of Thrones’ season 7: Sophie Turner hints further at Sansa’s transformation

Sansa Stark

It was first well over a season ago that you could trace the origins of Sansa Stark’s transformation on “Game of Thrones” from someone with almost no power to someone starting to get a sense of the larger picture. She was with Littlefinger for a time, but then things changed drastically when he made the calculation regarding Ramsay Bolton. Now that she is separate from that character, who was killed off at the end of last season, she’s in the most powerful spot she’s ever been. While Jon Snow may be King of the North, she understands matters in Westeros in a way that he cannot, and should be a valuable source of knowledge and advice. She also may have a little more of a brutal side to her following all that she’s been through.

In comparing where she is now to that “darker” wardrobe change that she had back when she and Litterfinger first teamed up (see the photo above), Sophie Turner had the following to say to Vulture:

“This is so much more Dark Sansa. When she changed her outfit, that was just the first hint that she was ready to start playing the game. That was a mild version of Dark Sansa, and now it’s really starting to feel like there is a dark side to her. She’s playing the game now, and very ruthlessly. When she wants something, she’s going to go out and get it.”

What remains in particular so interesting about this show and Sansa’s place in it now is that there are so many different directions in which it could go. For example, you could see her spending a little bit of time wanting vengeance on Cersei and everyone in King’s Landing. However, at the same time there is another pull in the White Walkers and figuring out how to stop them. These two opposing forces should help to further construct some of the overall meat and feel of the story that is coming up.
