Sadly, the first season of “Timeless” is now going to be off the air until after the holiday season, which is a particularly rough thing to accept when you remember that there are so many different questions that we have coming out of the midseason finale. We don’t know what the death of Rittenhouse is going to do in terms of altering history, and we also don’t know where Garcia Flynn is going to take Lucy Preston now that he’s captured her.
All we do know is that back in the present, Mason’s been a little bit of a thorn in almost everyone’s side courtesy of his own ties to Rittenhouse, and he’s been the one making it very clear to Rufus that unless he goes along with the plan to work in opposition to many of his friends, he could face harsh consequences. Obviously Rufus doesn’t want to help, but it’s not exactly like he’s been given a whole lot of options at the same time! He wants to see them safe, and he knows that this group means business.
Luckily, there may be a knight in shining armor working behind the scenes to make the case against Mason: Agent Christopher. As executive producer Eric Kripke tells Entertainment Weekly, this is a character you cannot forget about, since she’s going to continue to do everything that she can behind the scenes to stop him within his tracks:
“At this point, she’s becoming a useful ally to our team … She knows she can’t trust Mason and has to be very careful, so we have a season-wide plan for her… She’s a good cop and she knows she has to build a case.”
If she does manage to pull this off, one of the things that would be rather fun about it would be that she did so really without having to rely on a time machine, or many other external factors, to assist her. Sometimes, it really can be all about good police-work and working with the people you trust. She’s a character we’ve enjoyed more and more over the course of the series so far, so it’ll be nice to see where all of this is going.
