Bryan Cranston ‘wanted’ Donald Trump tweet for ‘Saturday Night Live’ cameo
This past weekend’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” was not the best of the season, but we actually probably did enjoy it more than most — and we also enjoyed in particular getting to see Bryan Cranston back on the show for the first time in forever! The former “Breaking Bad” star reprised Walter White for the cold open, as it was “revealed” that Donald Trump had made the Albuquerque drug kingpin into the head of the DEA.
The idea was ridiculous, and while some of the lines were pretty predictable, we do at the same time think it was rather funny.
So what was it like for Cranston to step into those shoes? This is something that you can see more in the video below, where the actor explains on “Today” how the entire idea came about, and how he was willing to drop back in just because he loves the “controlled chaos” that is that world, where they always manage to make a show work. He also made it clear (via a joke) that he was hoping to get a Donald Trump tweet out of it, though that didn’t happen. Apparently, that only happens when Alec Baldwin is on the show.
Speaking of which, we do think that Baldwin will be appearing this weekend for what is the final show of the year, and we wouldn’t be shocked if this was the last time that we saw him. Lorne Michaels is in a little bit of a tough spot here given that it’s hard to imagine a situation in which we’re going to end up seeing the former “30 Rock” star stop by on a regular basis to play the President after he takes that role — but at the same time, Baldwin does seem to take a certain glee in making Trump so bad.
For those wondering, Cranston also talks plenty about his new movie in here, but we’re not really a movie site.
