‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 4 spoilers: Prepare for a happier Fitz, Simmons

Agents of SHIELD -

For those of you out there who felt as though there was a little bit too much conflict between Fitz and Simmons through the first part of “Agents of SHIELD” season 4, know this: It’s not looking as though this will be permanent by any means.

According to what executive producer Jed Whedon had to say recently to Entertainment Weekly, you are going to see a version of these two characters coming up that feels a little bit more in line with the version that you’ve come to know over the years. They’ll still be together, but at the same exact time they’ll be bringing back some more of that fun and the passion that you first saw from the two of them a little bit earlier on in the relationship:

“They’re suffering a little bit from working with the person you’re with … We want to make sure that we get to see them just be together and be FitzSimmons of old. That doesn’t mean there aren’t still bumps in the road ahead, but there’s a reason these two are together, and a reason the audience is rooting for them. So they’ll get over their bumps in the road and we’ll spend some time with them just being a couple and enjoy working together.”

Given everything that we’ve seen these two characters to through over time, we do think that there is a little bit more of a reason to be hopeful about their future. They’ve been through a lot already, so by that logic what does another bump or two in the road really mean? The easy assumption there is that they are going to find a way to try and conquer some of these, as well.
