‘Timeless’ spoilers: ’24,’ ‘Vampire Diaries’ alum set for potentially significant role

Timeless -Want a greater reason to be excited about the remainder of “Timeless” this season? Then we come bearing some great news.

According to a report from Deadline, “24” and “The Vampire Diaries” alum Annie Wersching is set to play the character of Emma Whitmore on the time-travel drama when it premieres in the new year. For the time being, the majority of the details surrounding her are shrouded to a certain extent in mystery. She is living out in a cabin in the woods, and most early indications are that she will have some sort of a connection to the character of Garcia Flynn, played by Goran Visnjic.

To date, much of what we know about Flynn is that he is doing whatever he can in order to change the past, even if it is in a less-than-favorable fashion, in order to further ensure a desired future. Much of this could be due to his desire to fix a past that included him losing many people who were close to him. Already this season, we saw him doing what he could during the Apollo 11 mission in order to save the life of his older brother; it has not been explored fully to date, but one of the things that we are wondering about when it comes to this now is how we will end up seeing this rippling through into the future. We learned through Lucy in the pilot that just the smallest alteration to the timeline can change things dramatically, and if Flynn somehow still has a brother, maybe it alters the future in such a way that he never meets his potential wife at all.

Given that the series is airing its fall finale coming up Monday, odds are that the show is not going to be featuring Wersching until at some point in the new year; details on these episodes are scarce, but we do know that at some point you will have an opportunity to see a story that brings you back to the famous World’s Fair in Chicago.
