NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Brendan Fletcher, Josh Gallagher, Christian Cuevas, top 8 will sing

VoiceTonight’s new episode of “The Voice” is a critical show. This is the last new episode before the Voice Red Wedding on Tuesday, where a whopping half of the contestants will be eliminated moving into the finale next week. Song choice is going to be hugely important here; you have to pick something perfect for your style so that you know you can go out on stage and own it; meanwhile, you also have to pick something that prospective iTunes buyers will be interested in snagging; if you can get into the top 10 of the sales chart, you’re suddenly going to have a far greater chance than you would otherwise of getting into that key top four.

Take a look at all of the song choices below, coupled with some very quick observations on all of them.

Billy Gilman, “I Surrender” – Huge song. If you can nail it, you can have a big moment.

Brendan Fletcher, “Angel” – Fun bit of “Voice” trivia: If you think back all the way to the first season, one of winner Javier Colon’s most-memorable performances was to this song.

Josh Gallagher, “Danny’s Song” – Love this song. It’s a song that almost everyone of a particular generation knows, and it’s got crossover appeal.

Sundance Head, “Love Can Build a Bridge.”

We McDonald, “Scars to Your Beautiful” – It’s the most current song on the list, and we like that for We given that she’s someone who could go out and be on the radio today.

Christian Cuevas, “To Worship You I Live (Away)” – Admittedly, we don’t know this song well, but based on what we’ve learned recently about Christian’s faith, it makes sense to take on something in the gospel / worship music vein.

Aaron Gibson, “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” – In between Kenny Loggins and Bryan Adams, the theme for this week could be “classic songs that we really like.”

Ali Caldwell, “I Will Always Love You” – Another huge song. Our opinion is pretty much a reflection of what we said earlier about Billy.

Tonight, we’ll be back to review all of these performances … live!
