‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Leftovers,’ and more more highlighted in new HBO promo

We have to admit that going into 2016, we were slightly worried about the future of HBO; looking back, they may be among the few who can say that 2016 was actually a really great year. They had a pretty big hit courtesy of “The Night Of” over the summer, and they also have really come out swinging with “Westworld.” Somehow, despite concerns over its budget and halts in the production, it has become a rather significant hit in its own right.

Moving into 2017, the expectation now is for the network to deliver once more, and they seemingly have quite the lineup to do just that! The video below highlights many of the notable series that are coming back next year, whether it be “Game of Thrones,” “The Leftovers,” “Veep,” “Silicon Valley,” or the final season of “Girls.” There are also mentions of documentaries and talk programs such as “Last Week Tonight.” There are also some new series referenced in here, including the upcoming “Big Little Lies” starring Reese Witherspoon.

The one bummer here is that there’s not really enough footage of any one show to be able to differentiate anything that is going to be coming up. We also wish that there were some approximate premiere dates listed so that we could get a sense as to when things are coming up.

As for notable omissions, there is no “Westworld” included here, which is a further sign that season 2 will most likely not come on the air until we get around to 2018. Meanwhile, there was also no clear sign as to when “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will be coming out — that may just be a case of it being ready whenever Larry David and company are finished making it. With a show that good, there’s no need for a set schedule.
